What is ONYX GiftCards?

Onyx Gift Cards is a Grenadian company designed to introduce, market and manage gift cards systems in Grenada for retailers and corporations. We are enthusiastic about the effect and influence we will have on the local market. We intend to expand our systems regionally with a range of product offerings and services.

What is a Gift Card?

Gift cards are the preferred way of giving and receiving gifts. They carry a monetary value that can be redeemed for gifts at your favorite store.
Onyx GiftCards are “Open Gift Cards” which means that they can be redeemed at multiple merchant locations. They are standard credit card size, can fit into the average wallet and made of PVC plastic. Onyx GiftCards are Barcoded for security and safety for the consumer and bear a disclaimer at the back.
Onyx Giftcards can be bought with a branded Card backer which is black in colour and is designed to fit the card. There is an area to write a brief message to the recipient as well.

How it Works?

  • Buy an Onyx Gift Card at these local stores
  • Give your gift card to friends, family, co-workers, etc.

Short answer

A card testing URL link is any payment endpoint that a script submits card numbers to in bulk. The script wants a response that separates live cards from dead ones. The link is the target, not the tool. Targets include checkout pages, donation forms, subscription signup pages, and public APIs that accept a card number.

How the requests arrive

Attackers send thousands of requests from a botnet, a proxy pool, or a set of cloud IPs. Each request carries a different card number and the same small order amount. A merchant that blocks one IP sees the next attempt from a different one.

Why merchants notice late

Authorization attempts cost money. Processors charge per attempt, and networks charge fees when the decline rate on an account passes a threshold. Chargebacks arrive weeks later. A small merchant may see 5,000 attempts before the first alert from the acquirer.

Controls that cut the volume

  1. Rate limit by IP, card fingerprint, and session.
  2. Require a captcha or a token on the payment form.
  3. Block requests that lack a browser fingerprint or arrive without a page view.
  4. Set velocity rules on card number, email, and device.
  5. Use 3-D Secure to push authentication to the issuer.

No control stops all attempts. Card testing is a volume game. Raise the cost per attempt and the script moves to a softer target.
