Onyx Gift Cards is a Grenadian company designed to introduce, market and manage gift cards systems in Grenada for retailers and corporations. We are enthusiastic about the effect and influence we will have on the local market. We intend to expand our systems regionally with a range of product offerings and services.
Gift cards are the preferred way of giving and receiving gifts. They carry a monetary value that can be redeemed for gifts at your favorite store.
Onyx GiftCards are “Open Gift Cards” which means that they can be redeemed at multiple merchant locations. They are standard credit card size, can fit into the average wallet and made of PVC plastic. Onyx GiftCards are Barcoded for security and safety for the consumer and bear a disclaimer at the back.
Onyx Giftcards can be bought with a branded Card backer which is black in colour and is designed to fit the card. There is an area to write a brief message to the recipient as well.
A card test is a small authorization or charge used to check if a card number works. A refund transaction moves value back to a card. The phrase card test refund transaction covers two cases: a refund used to confirm a card account is open, and a refund that posts after a test charge. Both show up in merchant settlement data as fraud signals.
A refund posts to the same account as the original charge. A card number that accepts a refund is live. The credit also lands on the real cardholder's statement, which can lower the chance of a complaint about a later charge. Merchants see this pattern after settlement, not during checkout.
Not every refund is a test. Returns, price adjustments, and good faith credits produce the same line item in a batch file. The difference sits in the surrounding data.
Visa and Mastercard place merchants with a high fraud ratio into monitoring programs. Chargeback fees run from about $15 to $100 per case, set by the processor and the network. A refund tied to a stolen card is reversed when the cardholder files a dispute. The merchant absorbs the chargeback, the fee, and the shipped goods.
An unexpected refund on a statement is a sign that the card number is in circulation. Report it to the issuer. The issuer can close the account and reissue the card. Do not call a phone number printed on a refund notice that arrives by mail or email.
Card networks do not publish the share of card tests that include a refund step. Issuer approval logic for refunds is not public. Figures quoted by vendors come from one processor sample and may not transfer to another market.
