Onyx GiftCards are “Open Gift Cards” which means that they can be redeemed at multiple merchant locations. They are standard credit card size, can fit into the average wallet and made of PVC plastic. Onyx GiftCards are Barcoded for security and safety for the consumer and bear a disclaimer at the back.
Onyx Giftcards can be bought with a branded Card backer which is black in colour and is designed to fit the card. There is an area to write a brief message to the recipient as well.
A card expiry test tool checks the expiration date field on a payment form. It verifies the format. It checks the month range. It checks if the date is in the future. It does not confirm that a card is active. It does not confirm that a card is authorized. It does not verify ownership.
Stripe, Adyen, and Braintree publish test card numbers. These numbers work only in sandbox mode. The expiry date on a test card is an input. The sandbox returns a success or decline code. A decline code can simulate an expired card. A test tool can use these codes to confirm form behavior.
An expiry date is a 4-digit field on a card. The field does not prove the card is valid. It does not prove funds are available. It does not prove the card is not stolen. A test tool cannot check a real card without a payment processor. Using a tool to test cards you do not own is fraud. US law, 18 U.S.C. § 1029, covers access device fraud.
Use it during checkout development. Use it during quality assurance. Use it to check error messages. Use it to check input masks. Do not use it to validate a card for a live purchase. The payment processor does that step.
